Laramie River Valley · Colorado

Private campsites & glamping in Glendevey, CO

Glendevey isn't really a town - it's a wide, wild valley on the Laramie River near the Wyoming line, gateway to the Rawah Wilderness. This is northern Colorado's empty quarter: moose in the willows, elk on the ridges, and trailheads that see a tenth of the traffic of the I-70 corridor.

Come self-sufficient: the nearest real services are in Red Feather Lakes or Walden, each 30-45 minutes away. The reward is one of Colorado's most pristine mountain valleys - blue-ribbon fly-fishing, backcountry horseback riding, and night skies that rival anywhere in the state.

Camping in Glendevey: FAQs

How remote is Glendevey really?

Very. There's no gas, no grocery, no cell service in much of the valley. Arrive with a full tank, full cooler, and downloaded maps.

Can I hike in the Rawah Wilderness?

Yes - trailheads like Rawah Trail and West Branch lead into 73,000 acres of wilderness lakes and peaks. Wilderness rules apply: no motors, no bikes, bear-aware food storage.

Is the fishing good?

The Laramie River and its tributaries hold wild trout in a spectacular setting. Private ranch water fishes best; public stretches require a Colorado license.

When is the best time?

Late June-September. Snow lingers at the high trailheads into July; September brings elk bugling and golden aspen.

Will I see moose?

Quite possibly - the valley is prime moose habitat. Give them 75+ feet; they're far more dangerous than they look.
