State guide
Washington packs rainforest, volcanoes, alpine lakes, desert canyons, and island archipelagos into one state — and its glamping scene is just as varied. Sleep in a handcrafted treehouse along the Raging River, a yurt with a private hot tub on San Juan Island, or a safari tent with Mount Hood on the horizon. From the Cascades to the coast, the Evergreen State rewards travelers who stay out in it, not just drive through it.
The Olympic Peninsula is Washington's wildest glamping country: temperate rainforest cabins on Lake Quinault, hot-springs resorts inside the national park, and bluff cabins above driftwood beaches on the Pacific. Expect moss, mist, and elk bugles — and book the coastal cabins early, because storm-watching season sells out. This is the side of Washington that feels like the edge of the world, because it is.
East of the Cascades the mood flips to sunshine: desert yurts above the Columbia River, architect-designed huts in the Methow Valley, and riverside cabins in Bavarian-themed Leavenworth. The San Juan Islands add a third flavor — waterfront yurts and domes on Orcas Island, reachable only by ferry. One state, three completely different glamping trips.
Most Washington glamping runs May through October, but yurts, treehouses, and hot-springs cabins stay open year-round — winter storm-watching on the coast is a legitimate trip. Mountain lodges and floating-cabin resorts book out months ahead (Ross Lake runs a lottery), so plan summer trips in winter. Shoulder seasons bring lower rates, empty trails, and famous fall color in the high country.
