Helen is Georgia's alpine village, a Bavarian-themed town on the Chattahoochee River where the glamping is as varied as the town is unlikely: safari tents inside Unicoi State Park, a treehouse cabin above the river, and a hand-built castle a mile out of town. It is the single best base in the state for a first Georgia glamping trip, because the park, the falls and the wineries are all within a few minutes' drive.
The three stays here cover three different trips. Timberline's tents are the family pick, sleeping up to eight with the park's lake and beach attached. Bear Creek's TreeHouse is the couples-and-small-groups pick, walkable to downtown. Uhuburg is the occasion pick — adults only, two nights minimum, breakfast included, and a castle to wander between the towers.
